£2,000 budget available for a Castlefield Gallery Associate to realise exhibition
Posted on 21 February 2019
Castlefield Gallery Associates can now submit proposals for our autumn 2019 Members Exhibition and to select the exhibition alongside Castlefield Gallery Curator Matthew Pendergast, we are excited to welcome Sam Thorne, Director of Nottingham Contemporary and a contributing editor at Frieze magazine.
The selected artist will receive a budget of up to £2,000 as well as curatorial guidance and technical support, with the exhibition promoted as part of the gallery programme. The Castlefield Gallery Associates Members Exhibition is designed to enable those involved to significantly develop their practice and profile.
Sam Thorne is a writer and museum director. Since 2016, he has been the Director of Nottingham Contemporary, one of the largest centres for contemporary art in the UK. Prior to that, he was artistic director of Tate St Ives. Sam is a contributing editor at Frieze magazine, and has written widely about art, music and literature. He is also the author of a book about art education, School: A Recent History of Self-Organized Art Education (2017). In 2013, he co-founded Open School East, a free-to-attend art school in East London, which in 2017 moved to Margate.
