Volunteer Spotlight: Jeffrey Knopf
Posted on 23 November 2022
This month we have asked Jeffrey Knopf to contribute to our Volunteer Spotlight series where we are asking volunteers to share their experience with us.
Thank you to our fabulous volunteers for contributing to the continued success of Castlefield Gallery.
Hi Jeffrey! Tell us a little about yourself. How long have you been volunteering with Castlefield Gallery?
Hi, I’m Jeffrey Knopf and I have been volunteering at Castlefield Gallery since April 2022. I applied whilst I was involved with the Salford scholarship scheme which is funded by the University of Salford Art Collection and Castlefield Gallery. I felt that it would be a good way of giving something back, as I am thankful for the help and support I received whilst I was on the scholarship.
What made you want to volunteer here?
As I mentioned above, I wanted to give some of my time back to the gallery as a thank you, but volunteering here also helps me. Being a practicing artist, it gives me an insight into the daily runnings of a gallery and the preparation involved in setting up and taking down exhibitions.
It also gives me time away from my normal routine of juggling being a single parent and artist; both occupations can be rather isolating! so being able to volunteer at Castlefield Gallery gives me some much needed time to socialise with others.
What’s your favourite thing about volunteering at Castlefield Gallery?
The members of the Castlefield Gallery team are really excellent and made me feel very welcome. On top of this, I get to meet new and interesting people that visit the gallery.
What would you say to someone who’s thinking of volunteering with Castlefield Gallery?
Just do it as it is very rewarding on many levels!
