Come and learn about different models and processes for co-creation with young people. This interactive workshop led by artist-educator Olivia Glasser is the first of a 2-part series with artist-educators who are creating new models for the making and sharing of art co-created with children and young people.

Childhood and adolescence are periods of questioning, learning and experimentation, testing societal, educational and social rules, making children and young people the perfect artistic collaborators. This session hopes to explore different approaches to collaborating and making contemporary art with kids. How can artists centre art-education and collaborative processes using open-ended, risk-taking processes? What can children teach adults through artistic co-creation? Can working with children overcome ‘adultitarian’* societal tendencies? This session will suit anyone who is curious about children and young people as collaborators and co-creators. Come with your questions, prompts and insights.

Olivia Glasser is an artist, educator and creative producer, who creates frameworks for people to use art as a tool for situating themselves within, and asking questions of the world. She has 15 years experience in the sector, and creates opportunities for children and young people to collaborate with artists on ambitious work, which emerge through problem solving, play and engaging with unconventional materials.

She has co-created large-scale artworks with primary school collaborators for Art Assembly and Chester Contemporary and has been interviewed about her work on Art Fund’s Meet Me at the Museum podcast.
