Castlefield Gallery secures £150,000 of Arts Council funding
Posted on 28 July 2016
Castlefield Gallery is delighted to announce that it has this week secured £150,000 funding from Arts Council England’s Catalyst: Evolve fund.
Catalyst Evolve is a new initiative from Arts Council England that aims to support arts organisations with an emerging track record of fundraising, who have demonstrated the potential to attract more private giving; either from individuals, trusts, foundations or businesses. Money raised will be matched by the fund over a period of three years.
The funding will be used to ensure Castlefield Gallery remains one North of England’s most active and successful organisations/agencies for developing emerging contemporary artists and practice.
Marla Cunningham, Chair of Castlefield Gallery’s Board of Directors said: “We are thrilled that we’ve been chosen for Catalyst Evolve funding. This presents Castlefield Gallery with a real opportunity for long term sustainability and comes at a crucial time as we move into the next phase.”
Castlefield Gallery’s Director, Kwong Lee said: “This timely investment in Castlefield Gallery future from Arts Council England Catalyst: Evolve fund is going to greatly support Castlefield Gallery’s future sustainability and resilience over the next three years.
“Castlefield Gallery’s vision is for the North to be a place where artists can develop work of international standing and this funding will enable the gallery to maximise our core work of artist development and providing greater opportunities for audiences to see exciting new contemporary art in Manchester.”
Clare Titley, Director of Philanthropy, Arts Council England, said: “Arts and cultural organisations are working hard to attract new income and particularly to encourage more private giving. We can see from the number and quality of the applications that there is a real impetus among small and mid-sized organisations to make a step change in their approach to fundraising and develop their business models, delivering greater returns.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how our investment can have a real impact and watching the progress of the organisations towards their matched income targets over the next three years.”
