New Art Spaces Chorlton; A brand-new space for developing new art and artistic talent

Castlefield Gallery (CG) is pleased to be launching New Art Spaces Chorlton, the latest space in its portfolio of artist project spaces.

CG, who were behind the transformation of Federation House – a temporarily unoccupied eight-floor former Co-operative office building in Manchester city centre – and who also currently have New Art Spaces in Salford and Leigh, are now launching their latest New Art Space at Christie Fields Office Park in Chorlton.

Over 19 months, Federation House hosted more than 100 exhibitions and talent development projects with 1000+ artists, and welcomed several thousand visitors, with artwork developed in the building subsequently being exhibited nationally and internationally. Federation House was returned to its landlord in May this year.

Facilitated by charity property provider Hammond Associates, CG is now pleased to be making available two temporarily vacant office units at Christie Fields Office Park, Chorlton for developing new art and artistic talent in Manchester and the North West.

Registered charity and art organisation CG launched New Art Spaces in 2012 to make available temporarily empty properties to artists in which to create and present new work to audiences. From empty retail units, warehouses, and office spaces, artists, artist groups and artist development agencies have been transforming these spaces into temporary studio and pop-up exhibition spaces.

Artists are already moving into the two units, which feature a mixture of open plan and self-contained workspaces, and CG is now calling out to contemporary visual artists, artist groups and artist development agencies in the area who need a space to develop new projects and work to register their interest. Forthcoming public events at the spaces will be advertised on the Castlefield Gallery website and via the gallery’s social media.
