Creatives:9 is a group of nine Foundation Degree students in the final year of the Creative Arts for Employment course. The theme for their graduation exhibition is A Sense of Place and each student has explored and developed visual and emotional connections to local areas around Manchester and Macclesfield. These responses are manifested through a range of media including photography, textiles, ceramics, print and mixed media.
Our exhibition is dedicated, with love and respect, in memory of Charlotte Woodiwiss, our beautiful friend and fellow art student. A selection of her prints will be included in the exhibition.
Preview: 23 May 6 – 9pm / Exhibition Dates: 24 May – 2 June / Exhibition Opening Times: Tues to Sun 1pm – 6pm
Artist Biographies:
Roisin Brown is a photographer who works in both digital and analogue photography. Her subject preferences are disused and derelict buildings. Brown has exhibited at Jobling Gowler Solicitors, Macclesfield.
Vivien Fox experiments with shape, colour and texture bringing images and ideas into the abstract. Fox has exhibited at Macclesfield College; Jobling Gowler Solicitors, Macclesfield; The Snowgoose, Macclesfield and StudioFour Gallery, Macclesfield.
For Jackie Gibbs, the relationship with the past and how it affects the present emotionally and visually have offered a great source of inspiration to her. Gibbs has exhibited at the Snowgoose, Macclesfield; StudioFour Gallery, Macclesfield; Jobling Gowler Solicitors, Macclesfield; The Monocle Deli, Macclesfield and The Rook Gallery, Hartington.
Lucy D Hill uses oil and acrylic paint, and digital photography. Her interests revolve around abstract land and skyscapes, with a focus on capturing and emulating light, atmosphere and mood. Hill has exhibited at Buxton Art Gallery; Jobling Gowler Solicitors, Macclesfield and the Buxton Art Trail.
Amber Hind works in digital photography. Bringing to our attention the things and places that we overlook, her work explores notions of landscape. Hind has exhibited at Jobling Gowler Solicitors, Macclesfield and Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport.
Jenny Jackson is primarily a printmaker working with non-toxic printmaking techniques, image transfer and photo etching. She aims to capture moments, atmosphere and the energetic vibe of location in her work. She takes inspiration from the surrounding area, architecture and trips to different environments. Jackson has exhibited at Jobling Gowler Solicitors, Macclesfield; The Snow Goose, Macclesfield and Wrights Coffee Shop Buxton.
Louise Knight experiments with paint, surface and texture using traditional and non-traditional techniques to create expressive and unique artworks inspired by urban landscapes. Knight has exhibited at StudioFour Gallery, Macclesfield; Jobling Gowler Solicitors, Macclesfield; The Snowgoose, Macclesfield; The Monocle Deli, Macclesfield and The Rook Gallery, Hartington.

Newton has exhibited at StudioFour Gallery, Macclesfield; Jobling Gowler Solicitors, Macclesfield; The Monocle Deli, Macclesfield and The Rook Gallery, Hartington.
Michelle Stringer’s practice incorporates printmaking, mixed media and collage. Shapes and patterns observed in industrial and urban contexts are often used as cues to explore narratives.
