Announcing the University of Salford Graduate Scholarship Cohort 2018/19
Posted on 18 June 2018
Now in its fifth year the University of Salford Art Collection and School of Arts & Media Graduate Scholarship Programme, co-managed by Castlefield Gallery and the University of Salford Art Collection and School of Arts & Media, is gathering great momentum. We are thrilled to announce that the cohort for 2018/19 programme has been selected and look forward to working closely with them over the next 12 months.
The selected graduates are Heather Glazzard from Fashion Image Making and Styling; Alena Donely, Ovie Ist Kings Iruru, Sadé Mica, Katie McGuire all from Visual Arts; and Joshua Turner from Photography.
The programme is delivered with partners Hot Bed Press, Islington Mill, Paradise Works, Mirabel Studios and Redeye, The Photography Network.
The Graduate Scholarship programme was developed to support artists in their crucial first year after graduation. The scholarships are open to all final year undergraduate students from the School of Arts & Media and are awarded after a competitive application process.
From September 2018 the six scholars will take part in a programme co-managed by Castlefield Gallery and tailored to their individual needs. The programme will include; an award of up to £1,000 cash; funded studio space for 12months at either Hot Bed Press, Islington Mill, Paradise Works or Mirabel Studios; coaching; mentoring & guidance; a programme of local and national trips and visits to learn about and connect to a range of artist scenes and contexts; 12months honorary membership to Castlefield Gallery Associates with further professional development and training opportunities.
We are already delighted to announce that work produced in 2018 by Salford Scholar Alena Donely with Castlefield Gallery exhibiting artist Ruth Barker, will tour to Glasgow Women’s Library to be exhibited in 2019.
