6.30pm - 8.00pm
This event is for Castlefield Gallery Associates only
Online Event
Following on from two recent exhibitions at Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces: Chester, Reclaim. Suzanne St Clare and residents of Chester (2023) and Picturing High Streets – Suzanne St Clare and Chester Traders (2023), join photographic artist Suzanne St Clare for an online talk about her practice.
Centering on the exploration of memories and their staged, cinematic recreation, St Clare’s work often emerges from collaboration with communities. She has extensive experience working with young people, introducing them to photography techniques as a means to facilitate wider discussions. As well as discussing some of her recent work, Suzanne will share her experiences of initiating and developing socially engaged projects.
Suzanne St Clare is a photographic artist and educator based in Northwest England. Her images have been exhibited in galleries, public spaces and photography festivals throughout the UK. Suzanne has worked in collaboration with Open Eye Gallery, Tate Liverpool, Historic England, Wales NHS and Wirral Borough Council to develop, document and run a comprehensive range of socially engaged projects. She has lectured on the impact of working creatively with marginalised communities and how to overcome the challenges of working as an independent practitioner. Suzanne is on the Board of Directors for Redeye, a national photography network supporting photographers in the UK and globally.
