Tim Foxon: It is, doesn’t it

11 January 2025 - 02 February 2025

New Art Spaces: Chester

Venue: Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces: Chester (The former Topshop unit), Grosvenor Shopping Centre, Eastgate St, Chester, CH1 1LE

For years, this shop window showcased mannequins dressed in the latest fashion trends—vivid colours and bold patterns bringing life to their human forms. Now, artist Tim Foxon repurposes the very plinths where these statues once stood, assembling body parts, clothing, and everyday objects to craft moments frozen in time—scenes that feel as if they’ve just unfolded or are on the verge of happening.

Foxon’s work transforms everyday objects, pairing or positioning them with other ready-made items in unexpected ways to give them new meaning. The work embraces a playful spirit, often delivering one-liners or sparking a smile.

Scale plays a key role in much of his work, as he delights in combining objects of wildly different proportions. This contrast creates absurd, often humorous scenarios, inviting viewers to craft their own backstories for the moments he captures.

Tim is an artist working from Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces: Chester.
