Single Shot rings in the New Year with a series of showcase stagings across the length and breadth of Manchester. Programmed in collaboration with the city’s vibrant mix of arts venues, Single Shot pieces will also be making periodic appearances on outdoor screens in the city, or as interventions in other public locations. Whether seen in isolation, or as part of a wider cluster of pieces connecting different parts of the city, Single Shot is a ‘mini-festival’ of moving-image works that can be enjoyed as an emerging two-week programme or a series of brief and engaging fragments.

‘Presence, physicality, and the mediated spectacle’
How does the filming, editing, and re-presenting of a real event within Castlefield Gallery shift both the gallery context and the perception of the event itself? t s Beall and Gerrie van Noord will discuss the tension between real space and mediated space, and real and mediated time. Focus will be given to the physical experience offered by multi-media installations, and their potential to heighten or diminish presence and physicality.

Castlefield Gallery is pleased to present new, site-specific work by t s Beall. Untitled Horses is a complex multi-media installation that examines the presentation of a singular event using multiple large-scale projections. The piece reflects Beall’s enduring interest in the perceptions and misperceptions afforded by the camera within a performative context. Untitled Horses has been developed together with composer Mary Bellamy.
N.B. The gallery closes for Christmas & New Year from 23rd Dec to 9th Jan inclusive
