EXHIBITION & EVENTS ARCHIVE
After Henry Moore, Anthony Caro is probably the most widely known and respected British sculptor working today. The quality of his work is currently being brought into focus by a major Arts Council retrospective exhibition, covering the years from 1969 to 1984.
The first exhibitor at Castlefield Gallery will be the internationally recognised painter JOHN HOYLAND. Born in Sheffield in 1934, Hoyland has had a strikingly impressive career, his most recent success being at the 1983 John Moores exhibition where he won first prize.
The Castlefield Gallery, Manchester’s new contemporary art venue, will open on March 20th 1984. Situated in the heart of the city, less than one mile from Manchester’s two main railway stations, Castlefield Gallery is committed to showing the best of contemporary painting and sculpture.
