Chidimma Ikegwuonu

I am Chidimma Ikegwuonu a Painter/socially engaged artist, based in Manchester whose work is deeply inspired by culture, traditions, and history, particularly in relation to women. My artistic practice is shaped by my experiences of travel, cultural exchange, and the study of other people’s cultures, allowing me to explore themes of identity, heritage, and displacement. Through my work, I reflect on the resilience of women within my cultural background while drawing connections to broader global narratives. By engaging with themes of migration, transformation, and belonging, I seek to bridge personal and collective histories. My practice highlights the evolving role of tradition in contemporary society and fosters dialogue between different cultural perspectives.
