Artist Development & Creative Communities Producer
Jamie Allan is an artist, filmmaker, and curator with a background in documentary filmmaking and community cinema. He is responsible for Castlefield Gallery’s artist development programmes and public programming. Previously he was Curator of the Artist Film programmes at HOME Manchester as well as Assistant Producer for HOME’s gallery exhibitions. He currently curates the Short Film and Community Programmes for Sheffield DocFest, Sheffield’s International Documentary Film Festival.
He is interested in the collaborative processes of art making and how these can inform alternative models of exhibition and distribution. Together with friends in 2017 he launched the collective project Cinecaravan which hosts workshops and screens new films in socially and geographically remote communities across Europe. He has a Masters in Documentary Film Directing from the DocNomads itinerant film school in Lisbon, Budapest and Brussels, and a Post-Master in Collective Practices & Mutual Learning from the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm.
