Castlefield Gallery is once again pleased to be playing host to the Manchester Architects Design Awards. The exhibition will launch with a special opening event on the on the evening of Wed 16 Apr from 6-8pm and culminate with the 2014 Manchester Architects Design Awards Night on Wed 30 Apr from 6-9pm. the-msa.co.uk
The Manchester Architects Design Awards exhibition is a showcase for the work of the architectural profession in the Greater Manchester region. The Design awards, held annually since 1995, are presented for buildings that have made a particularly positive contribution to the local environment and are judged, from the exhibited projects, by a jury consisting of architects and non-architects.
The Manchester Architects Design Awards exhibition is open to the public from Thu 17 to Thu 1 May*
Castlefield Gallery opening hours: Wed-Sun, 1-6pm
*Closed Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Castlefield Gallery will be open as usual on Sat 19 Apr.

Manchester Architects was formed in 1865, it was affiliated to become a branch of the RIBA in 1891, and has a membership numbering approximately 800. The Society is the largest in the North West region of the RIBA and our members comprise approximately 45% of the entire region’s total. The illustrious history of the Manchester Architects charts Manchester’s rise to prominence from ‘Cottonopolis’ into a pioneering European City. Past Presidents have included many prestigious Manchester architects. For over 140 years through the generations, these architects have shaped the City of Manchester as we know it today.
Manchester Architects represents and supports the architects and the architectural students of Manchester and promotes their work. We are supported by our chapters, Stockport Tameside and Macclesfield and Wigan Bolton and Bury. Manchester Young Practitioners in Architecture are also affiliated with Manchester Architects. It organizes architectural events, lectures, travel scholarships and bursaries to students and organizes the annual Manchester Architects design awards which showcases the talents of Mancunian architects and architectural students.
The Manchester Architects Library is an outstanding historical resource which can be viewed by appointment as part of the MMU Special Collections.
