Volunteer Spotlight: Marielle Srebalius
Posted on 28 June 2023
This month we have asked Volunteer Marielle Srebalius to contribute to our Volunteer Spotlight series where we are asking volunteers to share their experience with us.
Thank you to our fabulous volunteers for their amazing work.
I started volunteering at Castlefield Gallery 3 months ago. I was primarily looking for a chance to grow my work experience, as well as to interact with other artists and discover their work.
What made you want to volunteer here?
Castlefield Gallery caught my interest whilst I was browsing the internet for volunteering opportunities. I had visited the gallery before and was immediately interested in the role. I had worked as a volunteer in another gallery before and I really enjoyed it, so I wanted to try volunteering for Castlefield Gallery to gain more experience, grow my communications skills and confidence. Being surrounded by art also inspires me as an artist, so this is also an opportunity to find material that could benefit my work.
So far my favourite thing has been to help install new artwork in the gallery space. Being able to contribute in putting together an exhibition has been the most satisfying experience I’ve had at the gallery. Having the opportunity to meet the exhibiting artists and seeing their work before the exhibition opens was exciting for me. Seeing all the works installed in the space once we were finished was a joyful experience.
What would you say to someone who’s thinking of volunteering with Castlefield Gallery?
