This month we have asked Volunteer Toni Miller to contribute to our Volunteer Spotlight series where we are asking volunteers to share their experience with us.

Thank you to our fabulous volunteers for their amazing work!

Hi Toni! Tell us a little about yourself. How long have you been volunteering with Castlefield Gallery?

I’ve been volunteering at Castlefield Gallery for just over three months, and from day one, it’s felt like a unique and rewarding experience. It’s amazing to be part of such a vibrant place where there’s always something new to learn and explore. Every shift brings a fresh perspective, and I feel genuinely connected to the gallery and its community.

What made you want to volunteer here?

I was instantly drawn to the gallery—the inviting space, the warm atmosphere, and especially its dedication to supporting a wide range of artists, from emerging talents to those more established. There’s a real contemporary feel to Castlefield Gallery, and it’s such an open, accessible, and diverse environment. I could immediately sense the positive energy, and I knew it was a place I wanted to contribute to.

What’s your favourite thing about volunteering at Castlefield Gallery?

The best part is definitely the team and the incredible network we’re building together. It feels like I’m part of a growing community that’s truly committed to nurturing and showcasing future breakout artists. There’s this amazing, supportive spirit at Castlefield Gallery, and I feel like we’re all working toward a shared goal. It’s not just a volunteer role—it feels like being part of a family that genuinely cares about making art more inclusive and inspiring.

What would you say to someone who’s thinking of volunteering with Castlefield Gallery?

Castlefield Gallery is such a welcoming and inspiring place. The team really invests in your growth and passion for art. They’re all about making art accessible and helping you feel confident in your role, whether you’re new to the art world or already immersed in it. You get the chance to learn, connect, and feel like you’re part of something meaningful, almost like you’re helping to shape the future of the art community. I’d say go for it—it’s truly an inspiring and supportive environment where every volunteer is valued.
